Tua Chua, a tea region hidden among the rocky mountains

Tua Chua is a mountainous district of Dien Bien province, mainly inhabited by Mong ethnic people. This is a place with many beautiful landscapes bestowed by nature.
Tua Chua has 3/4 of its area covered with cat-ear mountains, limestone mountains, few rivers and streams, and a fresh, cool climate all year round. Tua Chua has many pristine, majestic natural landscapes with valuable cultural and historical values…

Tua Chua is a long-standing residence of 7 ethnic groups, but the Mong people are the most populous. Therefore, the culture here is imbued with Mong culture. Especially the Xa Nhe market. At each time, each season of the year, Tua Chua has its own beauty, but the most beautiful is still from September of the previous year to May of the following year. This is the time when visitors come here to enjoy the cool, fresh air; enjoy the view of terraced fields in the ripe rice season with many beautiful colors.

Sin Chai – the last commune in the North of Tua Chua district with famous specialties of ancient Tuyet Shan tea and Mong Pe wine – a traditional drink distilled from corn fermented with forest leaves that shimmers like honey. Visitors will admire ancient tea trees hundreds of years old stretching out among the clouds and mountains; sip hot tea or a cup of corn wine by the charcoal stove in the chill of Sin Chai even in the middle of summer.

10 km south of Ta Sin Thang, along Provincial Road 140 is Ta Phin commune, famous for its cat ear stone plateau as far as the eye can see. Located in the Ta Phin stone plateau, Vang Long citadel was built nearly 3 centuries ago, considered an architectural work of great historical and cultural value. The citadel was built to take full advantage of the natural terrain, so the citadel wall has soft, curving lines. The main construction material is stone, which is completely hand-hewn and chiseled, using sophisticated stone-joining techniques to create a flat surface. The citadel is 2m high on average, the wall is 1m wide, and people and horses can walk on it. It was built and completed in 9 years.

Continuing along the inter-commune road, visitors come to Sinh Phinh commune, famous for Ta La Cao field and De De Hu field, which are like endless steps connecting the earth to the sky. It can be affirmed that the terraced fields in Tua Chua in general, and Sinh Phinh commune in particular, are very beautiful, unique and attractive.

Tua Chua can be compared to a beautiful, shy mountain girl, hidden among the clouds of the Northwest. The beauty and attraction of nature, culture and people here are the potential and advantages for Tua Chua district to truly be a destination that brings many interesting experiences to tourists…
