GABA OOLONG
1) Why is it called oolong GABA:
Oolong GABA (Other name: Jia Ye Oolong) is a type of tea that has undergone a special anaerobic fermentation process (Oxygen-free) and synthesized the compound γ-Aminobutyric acid – GABA in tea leaves. With a high GABA content, in addition to its inherent function of protecting health, it also has the effect of reducing symptoms of high blood pressure. GABA has the effect of preventing “messenger molecules” from transmitting inhibition to nerve endings.
Research has linked GABA to a number of health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety, reducing cholesterol levels, increasing mental alertness and sharpness, reducing Alzheimer’s plaque, fighting schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease, stabilizing blood pressure and creating better REM sleep. Other benefits include a good amount of antioxidants known to help prevent cancer-causing free radical damage. Oolong GABA, thanks to its ability to inhibit anxiety, can also help reduce overeating due to stress, thereby becoming a useful supplement during dieting.
2) How to process Oolong GABA:
The raw tea variety for production is purebred oolong grown and produced according to organic tea standards, fertilized with organic fertilizers (seaweed, rice bran, molasses, soybeans, etc.). Oolong GABA is processed within 72 hours.
After being harvested, the tea leaves are brought to the processing factory, through anaerobic fermentation. Under these environmental conditions, Glutamate in the tea leaves will be converted into GABA and antioxidants, flavanoids, catechins and polyphenols higher than normal. The tea then continues the traditional processing steps to produce the finished product.
The flavor of this tea depends on the process of adding GABA, not only that, it also depends on the altitude of the land where the tea tree grows. The more oxidized tea leaves will give a darker color and a clearer flavor. But GABA oolong tea can be easily recognized through the aroma of ripe fruit, nectar, honey… and sour taste when tasting. The taste of this tea brings a sweet feeling and the characteristic sour taste of GABA (γ-Aminobutyric acid).
